A Norfolk man who attacked a former partner and subjected her to a campaign of coercive and controlling behaviour was told he was nothing but a bully by a judge who jailed him.

Zak Greenacre, 22, of De Gray Road, King’s Lynn, admitted assaulting the woman causing actual bodily harm on November 7, 2024.

He also admitted controlling and coercive behaviour towards his victim between December, 2024 and June, 2025.

Ellena Forman, prosecuting, said Greenacre “back-handed” the woman after he accused her of being unfaithful, splitting her lip.

During their relationship he also tore off a bracelet injuring her wrist, grabbed her phone and smashed it, subjected her to verbal abuse and threatened to “beat her black and blue”.

In a victim impact statement read out before Judge Andrew Shaw, at King’s Lynn Crown Court, the woman said their relationship had seemed normal after it began in March, 2024.

But his behaviour soon changed and Greenacre would turn up uninvited if she went out with her friends.

She said he would become jealous and bombard her texts and messages threatening he would harm her or himself.

She added she was relieved he was in prison because she could go out with her friends without worrying about whether he would appear.

Judge Shaw heard Greenacre had 16 previous convictions for violent or threatening behaviour.

Stephen Mather said in mitigation his client had had “a difficult childhood”.

Greenacre, who appeared via a video link from Norwich Prison, was handed two years and eight months in prison and an indefinite restraining order not to contact his victim, who was in court for the hearing.

Judge Shaw told him: “You are nothing more than a bully who appears to lack the emotional sophistication or maturity to cope with a long-term relationship.

“You did not deserve to have her, you treated her with violence and contempt.”
