Man jailed after child abuse and sexual offence convictions
A man, Mark Begley, has been jailed following a series of serious convictions relating to the abuse of children and sexual offending.
At the conclusion of the trial, Begley was found guilty of multiple offences, including assault causing injury, wilful ill-treatment of children, recording a sexual image, intentionally causing another to view a sexual image, and assault causing injury with danger to life.
He was sentenced to 14 months in custody and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
The court also heard that Begley’s then partner, Vhairi Macleod, was involved in related offending. Macleod was found guilty of wilful ill-treatment of children, attempting to pervert the course of justice, and assault causing injury.
The proceedings brought to light the sustained nature of the abuse, with both defendants convicted following the trial’s conclusion.
