Article from 05/06/26:

WOMAN THREATENED PARTNER WITH MEAT CLEAVER IN WYMONDHAM ROW

A woman threatened her partner with a meat cleaver as she told him to get of their home, a court has heard.

Leanne Reid made repeated threats to stab the man during a row at their property in Wymondham.

Richard Paterson, prosecuting, told Norwich Crown Court heard the 35-year-old “armed herself with multiple knives during the incident”, including a meat cleaver and kitchen knife.

She told the victim “I will stab you” and “get out or I will stab you”.

The prosecutor said her partner had to use “enormous strength” to keep a door closed during the incident on May 17 last year.

Police were called to the address to arrest Reid and described the victim as being “visibly distressed” and in a “very heightened state of emotion”.

Reid, formerly of Sandy Lane, Dereham, but now of Fakenham, appeared in court on Thursday (June 4) after admitting threatening a person with a blade in a private place.

Lori Tucker, mitigating, said Reid, who has no previous convictions, had been trying to get the victim out of the property following an incident she had made a complaint about.

Recorder John Brooke-Smith said there had been an “outburst” of threatening violent behaviour with knives which must have been “terrifying” and a “traumatic episode” for the victim.

But taking into account her guilty plea he imposed an 18-month community order with up to 15 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) days.

She must also undertake a 120-day alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement.
