2020 – Shropshire Man Jailed for Violent Attacks on Former Partners
A Shropshire man described in court as a danger to women was jailed after carrying out violent attacks against two former partners.
Daniel Roberts, from Ruyton-XI-Towns, received an extended prison sentence after admitting a number of offences linked to incidents involving women he had been in relationships with.
The court heard that one victim suffered injuries during an assault described as having a “sadistic element”, while another woman was also subjected to violence during their relationship.
During sentencing, the judge highlighted the seriousness of the offending and the risk Roberts posed to others. Police praised the courage of the victims for supporting the investigation and helping bring the case before the courts.
The court was told Roberts had previous convictions for assaulting another woman and that his violent behaviour had escalated over time.
He was sentenced to an extended eight-year prison term and will be required to serve a substantial portion of that sentence before being considered for release. Upon release, he will remain subject to licence conditions.
A restraining order was also imposed, preventing him from contacting the victims for 15 years.
Investigators said the sentence reflected the seriousness of the offences and offered long-term protection to those affected.
