2025 – PREGNANT BETRAYAL RAGE: Mum-of-two launched hammer attack on love rival after discovering affair

A mum-of-two who discovered her boyfriend had been cheating on her while she was pregnant launched a vicious hammer attack on her love rival, leaving the victim with serious facial injuries.

Hull Crown Court heard Kirsty Allen, 31, flew into a rage after learning of the affair and stormed into a pub armed with a hammer, bent on revenge.

During the shocking attack, Allen struck the woman in the face and screamed: “I’ll do you in… I will kill you.” She then swung the hammer again as others rushed in to restrain her.

Terrified pub-goers, including families, fled as chaos erupted inside the venue.

The victim was taken to hospital with swelling, a cut to the face and a depressed cheekbone fracture. In a statement to the court, she said the “completely out of the blue” attack had left her frightened, unable to sleep and scared to be alone.

The court was told the violence unfolded after Allen uncovered her boyfriend’s affair while she had been pregnant with his child. By the time of the hearing, their daughter was 15 months old.

Allen later admitted assault causing actual bodily harm, affray and possession of an offensive weapon. She was jailed for 18 months.

The court also heard Allen had 11 previous offences.

Her defence said she was ashamed of what she had done and accepted it had been a stupid and serious act, but the judge made clear the attack was grave and had caused lasting harm.
