Dog rapists and paedophiles Scott Topley, 46, and Gordon Phillips, 41, from Heanor, Derbyshire DE75

Topley and Phillips were jailed after downloading more than a thousand indecent images of children and sharing them online. Material showing the pair sexually abusing their pet dog were also discovered.

Topley was arrested after he was identified from a video found on a mobile phone, which was seized as part of an unrelated police investigation by another force.

In the video, Topley could be seen performing a sex act whilst viewing indecent images of children.

The address he shared with partner Gordon Phillips in Fall Road, Heanor, was subsequently searched, and their devices were seized.

Phillips’ device was found to contain indecent images and he was also arrested.

The force found more than a thousand images relating to child sexual abuse, as well as material relating to extreme pornography and sexual abuse of their pet dog.

The men were charged with making indecent images of children, distributing indecent images of children, possessing prohibited image/s of children, and possessing extreme pornographic image/s of sex with an animal on May 28, 2025.

They admitted the offences at a hearing on July 24, 2025 and were sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on January 29, 2026.

Officer in the case, PC Michelle Azizi, said: “Together, Scott Topley and Gordon Phillips relished in their criminality.

“They took part in harmful online activities, viewing and sharing child and animal sexual abuse material with other like-minded individuals.

Sentencing – 6 years and 3 months in prison; 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Orders. No mention of a ban on owning animals.
