Gwent Police have released the picture of a paedophile who has been jailed for 12 years after he violently raped a schoolgirl after abducting her and taking her to an “isolated spot” in the countryside.

Andrew Wisbey, from Chepstow, was 22 when he carried out his terrifying offences in 2021 which left his 14-year-old victim “crying and hysterical”.

He was found guilty by a jury after a trial, in which he repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

The judge, Recorder Andrew Hammond, told the defendant: “You asked her repeatedly for sex but she refused.

“You grabbed her and turned her around.

“She described the panic she felt – she was frightened and she repeatedly told you to stop.”

He added: “She was left crying and hysterical – you told her to sort herself out.

“In her victim impact statement, she says she has nightmares at least three times a week.

“She describes being angry all the time.

“It’s apparent to me her teenage years have been dominated by the suffering you inflicted on her.

“She has suffered an extreme level of psychological harm.”

The judge stated he believed the fact that it had taken the police five years from the moment the complainant came forward to conviction was “deeply concerning”.

At Cardiff Crown Court, Wisbey, now aged 27, of Oak Close, Bulwark was given a custodial sentence of nine years with an extended licence period of three years.

The defendant must serve two-thirds of the nine-year portion before the parole board will decide if he can be released from jail.

He must register as a sex offender for life and he was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for an indefinite period.

Wisbey will have to pay a victim surcharge.
