Shane Jenkin – Cornwall

A violent bully that gouged the eyes of his girlfriend during a 12-hour attack which left her permanently blind, could soon be released from his category D open prison

In 2012, Shane Jenkin, of Hayle, Cornwall was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term fixed for six years.

Jenkin had held the terrified victim hostage for 12 hours, strangled her until she almost passed out, broke her nose and jaw with punches and gouged out her eyes. He then refused to call a ambulance.

Her sons, then aged 13 and three, were sleeping in the same house at the time.

Doctors told the victim that the 18-stone abuser had attacked her with such force that they could see his nail marks in her eye sockets.

However, 14 years later, and six failed parole hearings and a move to an open prison, Jenkin could soon be free.

He was moved to an open prison at the beginning of March last year.
