Man jailed for 27 months over sexual assaults on fellow students

A man has been jailed for 27 months after being convicted of sexually assaulting two female students at Newbattle Abbey College in Dalkeith.

Calum Thomas Jamieson, an adult with previous convictions, was sentenced in August 2026 after being found guilty of offences against two women who were fellow students and residents at the college.

The offences took place on 14 and 15 September 2024 at the college campus in Dalkeith, Midlothian.

Jamieson was sentenced to 27 months in prison and will also be placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

The court heard that the two women were students living at Newbattle Abbey College at the time of the offences.

Jamieson was said to have shown no remorse for his actions.

The case involved two separate incidents occurring over consecutive days.

Following his conviction, Jamieson was given a custodial sentence reflecting the seriousness of the offences. His registration on the sex offenders register will remain in place for a decade.

The victims cannot be identified for legal reasons.
