Stuart Middleton, who is currently living in the community despite a history of serious sexual offences and repeated breaches of court orders.

Official records confirm that Middleton is a registered sex offender, convicted on 11th August 2021 of five sexual offences involving children. As a result, he is subject to Sex Offender Management (SOMU supervision) and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which places strict restrictions on his behaviour for a period of 10 years.

He is also required to comply with nine prohibitions, designed to reduce risk and protect the public.

However, professional assessments from probation and police have identified Middleton as a high risk to children. Documentation further confirms that he has breached his SHPO on multiple occasions, with at least five recorded breaches, leading to him being recalled to prison, most recently in January 2024.

Despite these measures, reports indicate that Middleton has continued to engage in concerning behaviour while in the community. It has also been noted that he minimises his offences and has allegedly misled others about his criminal history.

Separate accounts provided by individuals describe patterns of manipulation, coercion and control, particularly targeting vulnerable individuals.

It is further said that during a relationship:
• was supplied with drugs, including Class A substances and Xanax
• was left in a vulnerable or unconscious state
• Explicit images were taken and shared without consent
• Distressing material was stored digitally

These claims were submitted to police, with evidence provided. However, following an extended investigation, a decision was made not to proceed with charges in that instance.

• Middleton’s status as a registered sex offender
• His history of offences against children
• His repeated breaches of legal orders
• Ongoing concerns regarding risk to both adults and children

Professionals involved have highlighted that Middleton’s continued behaviour and non-compliance with restrictions present a significant safeguarding risk.
