2018 – Convicted Killer Owen Pellow Jailed For Life After “Frenzied” Attack On Former Partner

Owen Pellow was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 17 years after being convicted of murdering his former partner, Lisa-Marie Thornton, in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset.

Bristol Crown Court heard that Pellow stabbed the 36-year-old mother-of-three more than 30 times during what police described as a “frenzied assault” at their home on Berrow Road on 23 November.

Avon and Somerset Police said Pellow repeatedly claimed Ms Thornton’s injuries were self-inflicted, however a jury found the 43-year-old guilty of murder.

A post-mortem examination confirmed Ms Thornton died from multiple stab wounds.

In emotional victim impact statements, Ms Thornton’s three daughters said they were “heartbroken” and spoke of the “unbearable pain” caused by losing their mother.

Her mother said: “No words can describe the loss of my beautiful daughter Lisa-Marie. I’m crying most days and just can’t believe she’s gone, my heart is broken.”

Senior investigating officer Andy Mott described the attack as a “shocking crime” and said Pellow had “refused to take responsibility” throughout the trial.

In a separate development following the conviction, street artwork created by Pellow under the alias “Kallus Spore” was removed from public display in his hometown by Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council.

The council stated the artwork could have acted as a painful reminder for the victim’s family following the case. Officials confirmed that most of his artwork had already been removed during court proceedings, while a remaining piece was later painted over by a local artist so there would be “no longer any trace” of the image.

The artwork, including a robot mural created during the town’s first Spray Jam Festival in 2016, had previously been displayed on buildings in College Street and other areas of the Somerset town.

BBC reports also revealed that following his arrest, Pellow appeared in police bodycam footage asking officers if he could “buy baccy” while investigations into the killing were underway. That footage is in the comments
