Convicted Sex Offender Found Staying With Woman and Children Despite Restrictions

A convicted paedophile was discovered staying at the home of a Barrow mother and her children despite being subject to strict monitoring conditions, a court heard.

Aaron Pollard, originally from Gorseinon, Swansea, previously jailed for sexual activity with an underage girl, appeared before the court after concerns were raised over his contact with children while living in Cumbria.

Pollard had earlier been sentenced to 27 months in prison after admitting sexual activity with a child. Swansea Crown Court heard he had supplied the underage girl with alcohol and cannabis before the offence took place. A 10-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order and restraining order were imposed, and he was made to sign the sex offenders register.

The latest hearing in 2024 heard Pollard had been staying at the address of a Barrow woman where children were also present, prompting safeguarding concerns. The court was told authorities became aware of the situation and launched an investigation into potential breaches and risks posed to those involved.

Concerns were raised due to Pollard’s previous conviction and the restrictions placed upon him following his release from prison.

The case once again highlighted concerns surrounding convicted sex offenders and the monitoring of individuals subject to notification requirements and prevention orders designed to protect children and vulnerable people.
