In 2017, Lewis Robert Fox was convicted following a prolonged pattern of animal cruelty and domestic abuse.

Animal Cruelty Offences

Fox admitted causing unnecessary suffering to protected animals between January 2015 and November 2016. The court heard he was responsible for the deaths of four hamsters and two rats during that period.

The judge described the offences as persistent and cruel, noting repeated deliberate harm towards defenceless pets and raising serious concerns about his behaviour.

Domestic Abuse & Coercive Control

In addition to the animal cruelty offences, Fox pleaded guilty to engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour within an intimate relationship between December 2015 and November 2016.

The court heard that his partner was subjected to intimidation, emotional abuse, financial manipulation and physical aggression. This included verbal humiliation, monitoring her social media, controlling how she dressed, accusations of infidelity, and incidents involving threats and violence.

The judge stated the relationship quickly became controlling and undermining, and that Fox used aggression and intimidation while blaming the victim for the harm caused.

A psychiatric report presented during proceedings diagnosed Fox with a personality disorder and referenced a lack of empathy and disregard for others.

Sentencing

Lewis Robert Fox was sentenced to 14 months in prison.

He was also banned indefinitely from keeping animals.

Ongoing Concerns

Given that Fox received a lifetime ban from keeping animals, any ownership, possession, or control of animals would constitute a breach of that court order. Concerns have been raised that he may currently have access to dogs. If accurate, this would be a serious violation and should be reported to the appropriate authorities for investigation.
