Norwich man gets suspended jail term for sex assault
A Norwich man, who was convicted of a sex assault on a woman he met on an internet dating site has been given a two year suspended jail term and placed on the sex offender’s register for 10 years.
Eric Randall was cleared of raping the woman but convicted of one charge of sex assault on the victim. He was also cleared of rape and three sex assaults on a second female.
Randall of Winnalls Yard, Norwich, had denied all the charges.
During the trial the jury at Norwich Crown Court heard how the woman, of whom he was convicted of sex assault, was ‘significantly under the influence of alcohol’ and could not remember anything other than being woken when she was sexually touched by Randall.
Jon Mitchell for Randall, said that he had found it very difficult while on remand.
