A Hartlepool teenager has been jailed for committing sexual offences, including rape, which he committed on three victims over a long period of time.
Dominic Legg, 19, was convicted earlier this year of 13 sexual offences including four counts of rape and yesterday at Teesside Crown Court he was sentenced to five years and nine months in a young offenders’ institution.
He will remain on the sex offenders’ register for life and he was also given indefinite restraining orders preventing him from contacting the victims.
Detective Inspector Lou Sproson from Hartlepool CID said: “The victims’ bravery in coming forward has prevented other people becoming victims in the future, and because Legg is on the sex offenders’ register for life everyone will now be aware of the danger he poses.
“This has been a challenging investigation, but we were determined to see Legg brought before the courts. Even now he continues to deny what he did, and this has meant yet more stress and trauma for the victims, all of whom have suffered lasting effects from what they went through.
“I can reassure anyone who has experienced sexual assault of any nature that we will always investigate thoroughly, and we can offer support from the moment they report right throughout our enquiries and until the judicial process is over.”
