Alexander Davies was just 19 when he used Facebook to groom a vulnerable 12-year-old girl. He engaged in sexually explicit conversations with her before arranging to meet in person. The court heard that Davies performed sexual acts on the child at a train station and in a park in the Neath area.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and one count of sexual assault. Davies was sentenced to 14 months in a young offenders institution and placed on the Sex Offender Register for 10 years.

South Wales Police praised the bravery of the victim in coming forward after her traumatic ordeal.
“Despite the serious sexual assault the victim had the courage to support the police prosecution and gave vital evidence of the harrowing and traumatic experience,” said DC Simon Davies.
The case was described as a “complex” 12-month investigation. Specialist officers supported the child throughout the process, ensuring justice was served.
