Swansea Man Jailed After Violent Attack on Former Partner
A man from Swansea has been sentenced after launching a violent attack on his former partner, leaving her and her family traumatised.
Steven Rees, 31, forced entry into his ex-partner’s home in the Mayhill area and became aggressive after she ended their relationship, citing concerns about his substance use. Once inside, he punched and strangled the woman multiple times and threw coffee at her. During the attack, he also issued threats against her and her children.
The court heard that Rees engaged in degrading behaviour, including urinating on a blanket the woman had wrapped herself in. His aggression also extended toward the family’s pet.
After the attack, the victim sought help from her mother, who found her hiding in the garden with her children, terrified. Rees later contacted the woman’s mother, attempting to downplay the severity of his actions.
The attack occurred just two weeks after the end of the relationship, highlighting a sustained pattern of controlling and aggressive behaviour.
