⚠️ Charges & Offences:

  • Assault on a pregnant woman
  • Harassment and breach of restraining order
  • Assaulting an emergency worker
  • Persistent threatening behaviour

📝 Case Summary:

In 2023, a woman in Newcastle lost her baby after being violently assaulted by her ex-partner, Scott Kinsey. Despite the attack, prosecutors did not bring charges related to the miscarriage due to a lack of definitive medical evidence.

The assault occurred in January 2021 after Kinsey became enraged during a visit. He kicked the woman in the stomach and continued striking her even after she collapsed. She was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary and miscarried shortly after.

Kinsey appeared in court for multiple charges and was described as remorseless and aggressive, laughing, gesturing, and spitting during sentencing.

He had previously served time in prison for assaulting the same woman and breached a restraining order by bombarding her with calls and threats after his release.

In a victim impact statement, the woman said Kinsey threatened to burn her alive and petrol bomb her house. She said the trauma left her afraid to go outside and emotionally broken.

Recorder Felicity Davies noted that Kinsey was aware the woman was pregnant at the time of the attack and described the behaviour as “appalling and cruel”.

Kinsey was sentenced to 44 months in prison and received a restraining order to protect the victim.
