💬 CASE DETAILS:
Scott Banks manipulated and sexually abused an underage girl over a prolonged period. He used emotional blackmail, threats, and coercion to control her, despite knowing she was under 16. The girl was made to feel she could not say no, and when she tried, Banks threatened to smash her belongings and expose her.
The survivor suffers with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and has engaged in self-harm as a result of his abuse. Despite these serious impacts, Banks was only sentenced to 4 years, with the possibility of release halfway through. The court noted his “immaturity” and history of witnessing domestic abuse — but these were not excuses.
The judge described Banks as a “somewhat manipulative” and “domineering” individual who posed a serious risk to young girls. A lifetime sexual harm prevention order was imposed to restrict his future contact with minors.
