Samuel Clark – Scarborough

A “dangerous” wonkey eyed paedophile went “off grid” in North Yorkshire, a court heard.

For nearly a year police officers didn’t know where Samuel Clark, 38, lived and when they did find out, they discovered he had a 170-page “paedophile manual” which ‘explains” how to groom and abuse children.

He also had more than 35,000 indecent videos and photos of children on his internet devices with some at the very worse level showing the rape or tortured of children

The paedophile manual contained advice to people like Clark on how to groom children and sexually exploit them.

“You could well go to exploit children in the future,” the judge said.

He said Clark had gone “off grid” and his “vast amount” of indecent images of children were of youngsters who had only been abused because people like Clark wanted to view them being abused.

He jailed Clark for 42 months and said that after the paedophile is released he hoped the authorities would keep “a very close eye” on him.

Clark, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to two offences of failure to notify the police where he was living, two of breaching his sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) which ordered him to tell police of any internet device among other conditions, three charges of having indecent images of children and one of having a paedophile manual.

He will be on the sex offenders’ register and the SHPO for life, having originally been put on both in 2012 at Carlisle Crown Court when he was jailed for a year for 26 offences relating to indecent images of children and extreme pornography.

Ms Clarke said as a registered sex offender Clark had to tell police where he lived and of any new address within three days.

He also had to complete a monitoring form annually. On November 8 last year, Clark told police he was living in Cromwell Terrace, Scarborough, where police visited him on November 17.

By January, he had left the address owing £1,000 in rent. But he didn’t tell police.

On November 8 this year, Clark attended Scarborough Police Station to complete his annual form. This time he gave an address in Columbus Ravine, Scarborough.

But the owner of that house said although he had keys to the house as her handyman, he didn’t have permission to live there. Police found evidence at the house he had been living there.

They also found two laptops he hadn’t told them about and other internet devices.

When they checked their contents, they found the paedophile manual, 4,440 pictures and 200 videos of the most serious category of sexual images of children, 4,249 pictures and 33 videos of the middle category and 26,185 pictures and 69 videos of the least serious category.

Mr Kutte said Clark had complied with both the register and the SHPO for many years and he hadn’t tried to “disappear”.

He had failed to tell police of his new address within three days and thereafter had not wanted to go to police because he knew they would arrest him.
