📝 CASE SUMMARY:
Roland Povall, 48, was branded a “dangerous offender” after violently attacking his girlfriend, a bridesmaid, and a teenage boy during a drunken outburst at a Lancashire hotel in April 2023.
The assault occurred following a wedding, where Povall punched his girlfriend, hit a bridesmaid, and smashed a mug over the head of a teenage boy before slashing his face with the broken handle.
He admitted to two counts of wounding and one of assault. The court was told he had a past conviction in 2016 for punching a previous girlfriend, leaving her with a black eye and a punctured lung.
Judge Ian Unsworth KC described it as a “terrifying and shameful episode” and ruled Povall to be a dangerous offender. He sentenced him to 7 years in custody with an additional 3 years on licence.
