2024 –

A woman was rushed to hospital after being found with stab wounds inside a home in Selly Oak. Emergency services were called to Weoley Avenue at around 7.30pm on Monday, August 5, where police and paramedics discovered the injured woman and provided advanced trauma care at the scene. Her injuries were later confirmed not to be life-threatening.

A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken into custody for questioning. A West Midlands Police spokesperson said officers arrived to find the victim suffering from stab injuries inside the property.

The man was remanded into custody on August 6, 2024. Court proceedings began in early January 2025, and he was sentenced in March 2025.

He received a two-year prison sentence, of which he was required to serve one year in custody and one year on licence. He was later released on electronic tag in June.
