A pervert has been caught with more than 5,000 vile indecent images of children including rape and torture of toddlers and humans raping animals.

Phillip Wright, of Runcorn, also shared some of his depraved collection with other perverts online.

The 33-year-old is now behind bars after being sentenced at Chester Crown Court, having pleaded guilty at a previous court hearing.

He admitted a charge of possessing indecent images of children, three counts of making them, and one of distributing them.

The defendant was also convicted of sole counts of possessing prohibited images of children and possessing extreme pornographic images involving animals.

The court heard from Catherine Elvin, prosecuting, that Wright was found with a total of 5,195 indecent images of children being sexually abused.

The collection was amassed between May 2025 and Halloween, October 31, last year, in Runcorn.

Of the 5,000-strong collection, 2,971 were placed in category A – the most severe form of abuse involving child rape – while 1,006 were category B and 1,219 were category C.

Cheshire Police also found evidence that Wright had distributed some of the sick images to other paedophiles online.

During the search of Wright’s devices, officers also found 12 prohibited videos of a child. These are non-photographic images, such as computer-generated images, cartoons, or drawings.

In addition, the devices contained six extreme pornographic images portraying an act of sexual intercourse between humans and animals, described as ‘offensive, disgusting, or obscene’.

Before sentencing, judge Patrick Thompson determined that the case was too serious for anything other than an immediate custodial sentence.

As a result, he sentenced Wright, of Grangemoor in Runcorn, to two years and eight months in prison, to be served immediately.

He was also told that me must sign the sex offender register for life and abide by the terms of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

Moreover, an order was approved to deprive the defendant of his electronic devices that were found to contain indecent material.
