A Plymouth man has been handed a lengthy jail sentence after he was found guilty of four counts of rape upon two girls aged under 16.

Nicholas Stanyon-Tall appeared at Plymouth Crown Court after he was found guilty by a jury of a series of vile offences.

The 53-year-old, of Kiln Close, Plymouth had denied four counts of rape on two girls, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

The offences took place in Plymouth during a four-year-period in the 2000s.

In addition he was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault between the same time period.

Judge Robert Linford handed Stanyon-Tall a 18-year jail sentence with one year extended licence period for each of the rape convictions and five years for each of the sexual assault offences, to run concurrently.

The 53-year-old was also made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 30 years and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.

He was also made subject to a restraining order not to contact the two victims for the next 30 years and placed on the disclosure and barring service list for life.
