📍 Middlewich Man Remanded After Being Charged with Strangulation and Assault
Cheshire, July 2024 — Nicholas Ian Carson, 43, of Booth Lane, Middlewich, has been charged with multiple domestic abuse offences following a violent incident in Shavington.
Cheshire Police responded to reports of a disturbance shortly before midnight on Thursday, 25 July. Carson was arrested at the scene and later charged with the following:
- Intentional strangulation – under the Domestic Abuse Act 2021
- Two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH)
The victim sustained physical injuries during the incident. Prosecutors stressed the seriousness of the charges, especially strangulation, which is increasingly recognised as a high-risk indicator in domestic violence cases due to its psychological and life-threatening impact.
🚨 Court Proceedings
Carson appeared before Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 26 July. He has been remanded in custody while awaiting further court hearings.
