Man Added to Sex Offenders Register After Pleading Guilty in Stranraer Case

Neil Brunton has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register after admitting to multiple offences at Stranraer Sheriff Court.

According to correspondence from the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS), Neil Thomas Brunton pled guilty before his trial was due to begin on 29 October 2025. The plea, which was accepted by the prosecution, included an assault charge and offences under the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018 – Section 1, relating to a course of behaviour that was abusive towards a partner or ex-partner.

As a result of the conviction, Brunton has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register. Police Scotland officers trained in offender management will oversee the conditions and duration of his registration, which will be determined at sentencing.

The court also imposed a Non-Harassment Order (NHO), preventing any further contact or behaviour directed towards the victim.

Sentencing is scheduled for 17 December 2025 at Stranraer Sheriff Court.
