Mohammad Wajid Koko – Tamworth

A man has been jailed for nine years and nine months after he admitted raping a woman in Tamworth.

Mohammad Wajid Koko, 24, of no fixed address, appeared at Stafford Crown Court today (Thursday 6 November) after he previously pleaded guilty to rape and sexual assault of a woman.

Koko approached a woman on 2 June last year. He then raped and sexually assaulted her.

We deployed specialist detectives as soon as we received the report and quickly arrested Koko. He was brought in for questioning and was charged with the offences and sent to court.

Specially-trained officers worked tirelessly to support the survivor while all the evidence was gathered to ensure Koko answered to his crimes.

As part of his sentencing today, Koko was placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
