2025 – Telford Man Jailed for Series of Assaults on Long-Term Partner
Lee McLaughlin, 47, of Summerhill, Sutton Hill, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for a series of violent assaults on his partner throughout a long-term relationship.
Shrewsbury Crown Court heard that McLaughlin committed several acts of violence, including an incident while on holiday in the Canary Islands where he physically attacked the woman during an argument, leaving her with facial injuries and bruising.
Further assaults took place throughout 2023 and early 2024 at the victim’s home. The court was told that he had used physical force on multiple occasions, resulting in visible and sustained injuries.
During sentencing, the judge acknowledged McLaughlin’s guilty plea and his participation in rehabilitation programmes while on remand. However, he issued a warning that any further offences would result in immediate recall to prison.
“If you commit another offence in the next six months, you will be brought back before the court,” Judge Trevor Meegan said. “Future acts of aggression in any relationship will be dealt with severely.”
He was released immediately due to time already served since January 26, 2025.
