Help Me – My Boyfriend Has Beaten Me and Taken My Phone!” – Terrified Woman Escapes Violent Partner Through Window

A terrified woman was forced to flee through a window and beg a passing motorist for help after being beaten and trapped in her home by her drunk boyfriend, a court heard.

Lee Damian Dawson, 43, of Huncoat, carried out a horrifying late-night attack in Accrington, leaving his partner bruised, bloodied and pleading for her life. The court was told Dawson confiscated her phones and keys, blocking her from calling police or escaping – amounting to false imprisonment.

After being violently assaulted, the victim scrambled out of a window and ran into the road, where she stopped a stranger and cried out:

“Help me – my boyfriend has beaten me up and taken my phone!”

The driver immediately called police.

Inside the home, Dawson had allegedly punched and throttled the woman as she begged him to stop, laughing as she struggled to breathe, according to court evidence. He was intoxicated throughout the ordeal.

Dawson has a long history of violence, including five previous convictions – among them assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a former partner dating back to 2005.

He appeared in court charged with battery and false imprisonment and pleaded guilty.

Despite the seriousness of the attack, Dawson avoided immediate custody. He was handed a nine-month jail term – suspended for two years – along with a 50-day rehabilitation activity requirement and a five-year restraining order banning him from contacting the victim.
