2012 – Child Removed From Property Following Serious Safeguarding Concerns
A child was removed from a residential property following serious safeguarding concerns uncovered during a joint investigation by police and social services.
Authorities became involved after reports were made regarding the child’s welfare and living conditions. Multiple attempts were made by professionals to locate and assess the situation, including visits to known addresses and contact with relevant individuals.
When access was gained, the property was described as being in a severely unhygienic and unsafe condition. Reports detailed a strong smell of urine throughout the home, soiled nappies left on the floor, and evidence of animal waste inside the living space. There were concerns that the child did not have suitable sleeping arrangements, with no proper bedding or mattress available.
Further concerns were raised about the state of basic household facilities. Investigators noted issues with sanitation, including a toilet that could not be flushed and a lack of running water at the property. The overall condition of the home was described as unfit for a child to live in.
Professionals also raised concerns regarding supervision and the child’s day-to-day care, noting the absence of a safe and stable environment. The situation was assessed as posing a risk to the child’s health and wellbeing.
As a result of the findings, the child was removed from the property and placed into alternative care arrangements. Authorities confirmed the child was safeguarded following the intervention, with children’s services taking responsibility for ongoing oversight.
The case remains documented within safeguarding records to ensure continued monitoring and protection of the child.
