Man convicted after attacking partner during argument over gaming
A man from Swansea has been convicted at trial of a series of assaults on his former girlfriend, including an incident that left her requiring crutches.
The court heard that the abuse began in July 2023 during an argument after the woman interrupted his video gaming session. That argument escalated into a physical assault, during which the defendant pushed the victim to the ground, slapped her face, and kicked her legs.
Further evidence presented at trial included additional assaults during the relationship. These included pushing the victim into a wall and radiator, forcing her onto a bed and pressing his knee into her forehead, and pulling her down garden steps.
One of the most serious reported injuries occurred in the garden, where the woman sustained a twisted ankle that left her needing crutches for four weeks. Initially, the defendant did not allow her to attend hospital, but eventually agreed when the injury worsened — at which point he instructed her to tell medical staff that she had fallen and injured herself.
The court also heard that in a separate incident in April 2024, the abuse was reported to police after the defendant threw his partner to the floor during an argument and grabbed her by the hair. Police later located and arrested him.
During interview with police, he denied the allegations. He maintained his innocence, but a jury convicted him following a trial in October last year.
Pridmore was sentenced to 24 months in prison suspended for 18 months, and ordered to complete a rehabilitation course and to do 180 hours of unpaid work in the community.
The defendant was also made subject to a 10-year restraining order banning him from contacting his victim
At sentencing, it was noted that the defendant had no previous convictions. The court also heard that the relationship began in 2023, with the couple becoming romantically involved and moving in together.
The victims statement –
After two years of interaction with police and other authorities, my own case went to Crown Court on 28 October 2025 against Kieran Pridmore. Despite clear evidence being presented, he pleaded not guilty throughout — even though the evidence was in black and white against him.
After two days in Crown Court, the jury found him guilty on 5 of the 8 charges brought against him. He was sentenced to a 24‑month suspended sentence with conditions, and a 10‑year restraining order was imposed.
I’m relieved that some justice was served, though the process was extremely painful and exhausting. Even his family contributed to the stress during the proceedings. I stayed quiet and dealt with it alone for two years — never speaking out until the sentence was given. I still have court letters, hospital records, bank documents, and more showing what happened — including instances where he stole from me — yet he still walks free, which doesn’t make sense while I’m left with lasting emotional scars.
I want women to be aware of him. He is controlling and abusive. I endured his behaviour for just over a year before I found strength to leave. When I was eventually informed under Clare’s Law, I was shocked to learn there were a high number of female victims from his past — which confirmed my worst fears.
I am grateful to everyone who supported me — family, friends, and especially Jay. ❤️
I fought for two years for justice. I got some, and I’m proud that no one can say I didn’t go to court, because I did. If you feel unsafe in a relationship or have concerns about someone’s behaviour, I encourage you to explore Clare’s Law disclosures so you can make informed and safer decisions.
