📝 CASE SUMMARY:

Keegan Smith, from Galashiels, has a repeated history of domestic abuse. In February 2018, he received a six-month prison sentence after being found guilty of pushing his former partner to the ground during an argument on Buccleuch Street in Melrose. He denied the charge but was convicted after trial.

That was not his first offence — in December 2016, Smith admitted punching the same woman in the head after accusing her of flirting. He was sentenced to four months, his fifth domestic violence court appearance that year alone.

A three-year non-harassment order was also issued. Despite repeated violence, some charges were dropped due to lack of evidence.
