A vile paedophile pounced on an eight-year-old girl and sexually assaulted her while she was on her way to school with her brother.

The young schoolgirl was preyed on by Kai Groborz, 18, as she walked along a lane in Halbeath, Fife, in a shocking incident.

In a separate offence, the sick beast had been caught with a hoard of indecent images of children and bestiality.

Groborz, of Seamark Place, Ballingry, appeared in the dock at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on January last year, he sexually assaulted a girl, then aged eight years, in a lane between Fod Street and Fleet Street, in Halbeath.

He admitted touching her private parts over her clothing with his hand.

He further admitted that between May 23, 2022, and August 22, 2023, he downloaded indecent photographs of children at Riccarton, East Kilbride and elsewhere.

On October 12, 2022, he also distributed obscene material, namely an image of a child engaged in sexual activity with an animal, at the same address.

Depute fiscal Sarah Smith said that at the time of the Halbeath incident, Groborz was living in that area with his gran and uncle.

The young girl was walking to primary school with her brother, leaving their home at 8.40am and heading along a footpath.

The girl was walking several steps behind her brother when Groborz approached her and touched her.

The girl shouted to her brother, and Groborz ran off.

She told her brother what had happened, and he reported the matter to their headteacher.

He said: “My sister was touched by a paedophile on the way to the school.”

The girl then told the teacher what had been done to her, and the police were contacted.

When police went to Groborz’s home at 4.15pm that day to speak to him.

He said, “I know what it’s about”, and was arrested.

Sheriff James Williamson called for reports, and Groborz remains at liberty ahead of sentencing on November 27.

He was put on the sex offenders register.
