❌JONNY/JONATHAN MOORE – SHILDON, COUNTY DURHAM❌
2025 – A man from Shildon, County Durham, has been convicted of sexual communication with a child following a trial at Teesside Crown Court.
Jonathan Moore, aged 35 and of Sunnyside Avenue, Shildon, was found guilty after evidence showed he sent sexual messages to a girl while she was under the age of 16. The court heard that some of the communications took place shortly before and around the time of the child’s 16th birthday.
Prosecutors told the court that Moore sent sexually explicit messages and images and invited the child to view explicit photographs of him. While some material was sent after the child turned 16 and could not be sentenced for, the court stated this behaviour provided important context to the offending.
Moore was sentenced to a two-year community order, which includes 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and 100 hours of unpaid work. He was also made subject to a five-year restraining order and ordered to pay £1,200 in court costs.
The court heard that social services had conducted an investigation into Moore’s family circumstances following his conviction and raised no concerns regarding his parenting role. Despite this, the judge made clear that the behaviour was serious and unacceptable.
During sentencing, Judge Timothy Stead told Moore that although this was the only matter that had brought him before the court, the offence itself was significant and warranted strict conditions and supervision.
The victim’s identity remains protected under law.
