📍 Ipswich Man Jailed After Violent Rampage in Cambridge

Cambridge–Ipswich, UK – September 2024 — Jessie Slack, 32, from Ipswich, has been sentenced to two years in prison after carrying out a violent and unprovoked attack on multiple people in central Cambridge.

🕒 The Incident

The assaults occurred at around 3:30 a.m. on 11 May 2024 in Market Passage, Cambridge. Slack initially launched a vicious attack on four individuals, punching them repeatedly. One victim was left with a fractured skull and a traumatic brain injury.

Moments after leaving the area, Slack returned and attacked two more men, knocking one of them unconscious. Victims were rushed to hospital with injuries, including serious head trauma.

📸 Arrest and Charges

Slack was caught on CCTV and identified by witnesses. He was arrested a few hours later at a property in Newmarket. He pleaded guilty to:

  • Assault causing grievous bodily harm without intent (GBH)
  • Three counts of assault by beating

⚖️ Sentencing

On 19 September 2024, at Peterborough Crown Court, Slack was sentenced to two years in custody for his violent actions.

Detective Constable Joanna Mackenzie, who led the investigation, said:

“Slack seemed intent on violence as he attacked people without any provocation in these senseless attacks. The victim of the GBH suffered a fractured skull and a brain injury. It is only by luck that this was not more serious.”
