⚠️ Offences:

  • Intentional strangulation
  • Physical assault
  • Alcohol-related violence

🗓️ Date: December 2024 (Sentenced)

📝 Summary:

Jake Bowman-Davies, a 26-year-old fisherman from Milford Haven, was sentenced for intentionally strangling his partner’s mother during a violent outburst that occurred in the presence of a child.

The incident occurred in the early hours of December 17, when his partner phoned her parents during a domestic dispute. On arrival, her mother found her daughter being screamed at by Bowman-Davies. When she intervened, he turned on her—grabbing her throat and restricting her breathing. The victim said she feared for her life until her daughter struck him, forcing him to release her.

Bowman-Davies then opened a can of alcohol and sprayed it over the mother before leaving. He was arrested shortly after but initially denied the attack. He later pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation.

The court heard that he binge drinks heavily while ashore, although he works long periods at sea on his father’s fishing boat. At the time of the attack, he had consumed six cans of alcohol and denied taking drugs, despite allegations. He has prior convictions for criminal damage, drug driving, and cocaine possession.

He spent 158 days in custody after breaching bail conditions. He is also already a father and expecting another child with his partner—the daughter of the victim.

Judge Huw Rees described his actions as “utterly unacceptable” and noted that “no child should witness such violence.” He imposed a:

  • 16-month prison sentence (suspended for 18 months)
  • 25 rehabilitation activity days
  • 120 hours of unpaid work
  • Three-year restraining order to protect the victim

Judge Rees warned: “Any breach of this order or further offence will result in a custodial sentence. I do not expect to see you again.”

🚨 Warning:

Jake Bowman-Davies poses a risk to women, especially when under the influence of alcohol. His actions were violent, manipulative, and traumatic for those involved — including a child who witnessed it. He should be treated with extreme caution.
