County Durham Man Jailed for Breaching Protection Order — Back in Court for Further Offence
A County Durham man who was jailed last month for breaching a domestic violence protection order is due back before magistrates after allegedly breaching the terms of his probation.
Frank Gibbon, 38, of Sycamore Gardens, Crook, appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on September 26, where he admitted being found inside a prohibited address in violation of a domestic violence protection order made just two days earlier by Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that Gibbon’s actions were in direct breach of the protection order, which had been issued to prevent him from entering the address. Magistrates described his conduct as showing a “flagrant disregard for court orders” and sentenced him to 56 days in custody under Section 63 of the Magistrates’ Courts Act 1980. No order for prosecution costs was made.
Gibbon is now listed to appear again before Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court at 10am on Tuesday, October 21, for an alleged breach of his probation conditions following his release from custody.
