Domestic abuse campaigners say cases like this highlight the importance of Clare’s Law (the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme), which allows people to ask police if their partner has a history of abuse.
Anyone who feels at risk can seek advice or disclosure under Clare’s Law, and support is available through services such as Refuge, Women’s Aid, and the National Domestic Abuse Helpline (0808 2000 247).
