DANIEL WALDRON – NEWTON AYCLIFFE / COUNTY DURHAM

Daniel Waldron

Daniel Waldron, of Honister Place, Newton Aycliffe, was jailed in 2022 following a campaign of abuse and a brutal assault on his partner inside their home.

He appeared before Durham Crown Court where he admitted to:

  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm
  • Common assault
  • Criminal damage

The court heard that Waldron became aggressive after running out of cannabis and, during an argument over a gaming console, launched a violent assault. He:

  • Pushed his partner out of bed
  • Slapped and punched her
  • Dragged her across the floor by her hair
  • Threw a cigarette lighter at her
  • Gripped her neck so tightly she feared she would suffocate

She was forced to declare her love for him just to be released.

Earlier incidents included Waldron smashing doors, grabbing her arm tightly (leaving redness), and creating an environment where she lived in constant fear. In her statement, the victim said she felt “destroyed” and like a prisoner in her own home, constantly walking on eggshells.

Judge James Adkin sentenced Waldron to 21 months in prison and described the attack as a “sustained beating.”

A 10-year restraining order was also issued, banning Waldron from contacting the victim or going near her.
