Conner Barnes, a factory worker from Dover, was spared jail after sexually assaulting a woman outside the McDonald’s restaurant in Whitfield, Dover.
The incident took place following a night out, during which Barnes—who admitted to being under the influence of alcohol and cocaine—attacked the victim for approximately 18 minutes.
During the assault, Barnes was reported to have touched the victim’s naked breast. It was also suspected that the woman’s drink may have been spiked, although this could not be confirmed through evidence.
Despite the seriousness of the offence, the court handed Barnes a suspended sentence rather than immediate imprisonment, prompting public concern about the leniency of the outcome.
