Over the course of a two-year on-and-off relationship, she endured repeated physical and emotional abuse from him.

During the most recent incident, he confined her in his house for about an hour, during which he violently dragged her up the road by her hair, threw a knife at her, and stabbed her in the neck. As she was bleeding heavily, he refused to call an ambulance, stating that he didn’t want to go to jail.

Later that same night—only a few hours after the stabbing—he forced her to have sex with him despite her severe injuries. In the days following the assault, she was in such extreme pain and shock that she was unable to lift her head properly for two days.
