❌ CHRISTOPHER HOOPER – HAVERFORDWEST ❌
A Neyland man has been dealt a community sentence after assaulting his partner during what magistrates described as a “nasty argument” just before Christmas.
Christopher Philip William Hooper, 44, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court after admitting common assault committed on 21 December. The incident also breached a previous conditional discharge imposed for an earlier offence involving the same woman.
According to the court, mobile phone footage captured Hooper pulling his partner to the ground before delivering a deliberate kick during the dispute. No injuries were recorded, and the victim declined to support the prosecution, but the court proceeded based on the available evidence.
Hooper claimed he had “overreacted” during the confrontation, which escalated following comments about his former relationship. His defence said he had been drinking and did not fully recall events, describing the situation as an argument that spiralled.
The probation service reported that both parties had consumed alcohol after Christmas shopping earlier in the day, and tensions rose when they returned home. Hooper was said to be remorseful and acknowledged that alcohol had contributed to his loss of control.
Magistrates imposed unpaid work hours and addressed the breach of his previous conditional discharge.
