A man from Winsford has been sentenced to prison after admitting to engaging in sexual activity with a minor.

Bradley Challinor appeared at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, March 4, where he received a sentence of four years and four months.

The 24-year-old resident of Castlemill Court, Winsford, had earlier pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a child and attempting to obstruct justice. He was acquitted of one count of rape during a previous trial.

The court was informed that in the early hours of Sunday, May 19, 2024, Challinor sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl in Winsford by having sexual intercourse with her.

The victim reported that after the incident, Challinor had urged her not to report it and had even bought her several gifts in an effort to dissuade her from contacting the authorities.

Despite his attempts, the victim eventually disclosed the incident to a family member, who then reported it to the police. An investigation ensued, leading to Challinor’s arrest concerning the incident.

During his interrogation, he chose not to respond to any inquiries regarding the sexual offenses. Nevertheless, he was subsequently charged in connection with the incident.
