❌ ANDREW/JORDAN CHAPMAN – CARDIGAN, WALES ❌
Man Jailed for Sexual Assault of Teenager and Breaching Restraining Order
Andrew Chapman, 29, of Troed Yr Ynys, Bronwydd Arms, has been sentenced to prison following a sexual assault on a teenage girl and a subsequent breach of a court order.
Chapman went on trial at Swansea Crown Court accused of sexually assaulting a teenager in Carmarthenshire on 21 September. The court heard that while sitting in his vehicle, Chapman asked the girl for a kiss before reaching out of the window and touching her jacket in the area of her chest. He denied the allegation.
In March, the initial trial ended without a verdict after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous decision, and a retrial was ordered.
Chapman was also accused of harassment by breaching a restraining order that had been imposed by Swansea Crown Court on 17 November. He was alleged to have searched for and viewed the teenager’s TikTok account on 24 June, despite being prohibited from any contact or monitoring of her online activity. He admitted breaching the order at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on 6 August.
At sentencing on 7 August at Swansea Crown Court, Chapman received:
• Six months’ imprisonment for the sexual assault
• Fourteen months’ imprisonment for breaching the restraining order
The sentences were ordered to run consecutively, resulting in a total prison term of 20 months.
Chapman was also ordered to:
• Register as a sex offender for seven years
• Comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years
• Abide by a new 10-year restraining order protecting the victim
