Man Jailed and Given Restraining Order After Serious Sexual and Violent Offences

A man has been jailed following convictions for multiple serious sexual and violent offences, a court has confirmed.

Alexander Reece Lawson, born 7 September 1994, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court where he was convicted of a series of offences committed on various dates. The offences included rape, assault by penetration, sexual assault, and perverting the course of justice.

On 18 May 2018, Lawson was sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment for the offences.

As part of the sentence, the court also imposed a restraining order, made under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. The order was issued on conviction and remains in force until further order of the court.

The restraining order prohibits Lawson from engaging in conduct that amounts to harassment or causes fear of violence towards the protected individual. Breaching the order would constitute a further criminal offence and could result in additional imprisonment.

Court documents confirm that Lawson was convicted at Sheffield Crown Court, and that the offences involved sustained and serious criminal behaviour. Following sentencing, he was no longer subject to bail conditions previously imposed in relation to the case.

Police and court authorities have reiterated that restraining orders of this nature are designed to protect victims and prevent further harm.
