Callington man admits offences involving illegal child-related material

A 53-year-old man from Callington has admitted a series of offences involving illegal child-related material and is due to be sentenced at Truro Crown Court.

Alex Piper, of Werrington Drive, appeared before magistrates where he pleaded guilty to seven charges, including:
• Creating and sharing prohibited images of children
• Distributing the highest-severity category of illegal material
• Sharing messages that discussed unlawful content with others online

Due to the seriousness of the offences, magistrates ruled that the case must be dealt with at the Crown Court, where Piper faces the possibility of a custodial sentence.

He has been released on conditional bail until his next court appearance. Bail conditions include no unsupervised contact with anyone under 18.

Police are reminding the public that anyone with concerns about an individual’s behaviour can seek information through Sarah’s Law, which allows parents, carers, and guardians to request disclosure from police if they believe a person may pose a risk to a child.
