Court Sentences Telford man for Assault and Public Order Offences

Aj Rowe from the Telford area has been sentenced following a hearing at Telford Magistrates’ Court on 8 December 2024.
According to court documents, the defendant was found guilty of assault by beating and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The court imposed a suspended sentence of 12 months, community service requirements, and a financial penalty payable to the Crown Prosecution Service. Additional conditions include abstaining from alcohol and avoiding contact with the victim.
The case is now concluded, though the defendant retains the right to appeal the decision.

Victim Shares Her Experience

The woman involved in the case has spoken about her experience of abuse, which she says began during a relationship that appeared ordinary at first.

“I used to spend most weekends at his place, and sometimes he came to mine to drink with friends,” she said. “One night, after he had been drinking heavily, he turned violent when I refused to have sex. He slapped me, pulled my hair, bit me, and threw me down onto a bike while I was on a video call — my friends saw everything.”

She says the experience left her shaken but determined to seek justice. “It was terrifying, but I didn’t stay silent. With support from friends and the police, I got through the court process. I want others to know they’re not alone and that help is out there.”
