Man Returned to Prison Following Serious Domestic Abuse Offences

A man has been sent back to prison after being charged with a series of serious domestic abuse offences, police have confirmed.

Adam Cassey, was returned to custody in October 2025 following further action by the courts.

Police confirmed Cassey was charged with the following offences:
• Intentional strangulation
• Wounding with intent
• Threats to kill
• Breaching a restraining order

The charges relate to incidents that occurred while Cassey was already subject to court-imposed restrictions designed to protect the victim.

Officers confirmed that the breaches included repeated contact in direct violation of a restraining order, alongside violent and threatening behaviour. As a result, the court ordered that Cassey be recalled to prison.

The case was investigated by a specialist Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit, and police reiterated that restraining orders are put in place to safeguard victims and that breaches are treated with seriousness.

Authorities continue to urge victims of domestic abuse to report breaches immediately and seek support.

Clare’s Law

Anyone concerned about a current or former partner can apply under Clare’s Law (the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme) to find out whether that person has a history of violence, abuse, or controlling behaviour.

Requests can be made directly to the police and may help individuals make informed decisions about their safety.
