A Bracknell man has been sentenced following a violent incident that took place at a residential address in October 2023.

Barry Kendall appeared before Reading Magistrates’ Court on 2 May 2024, where he pleaded guilty to the charge of using violence to secure entry to premises. According to witness accounts, the incident began when Mr Kendall was locked out of the property due to reportedly acting aggressively after consuming alcohol and drugs. It is said he returned later that evening and began kicking and punching the front door, causing significant fear to the occupants.

Police guidance given during the incident reportedly led the victim to barricade themselves and their children in an upstairs bedroom, while waiting for officers to arrive. While on the phone to emergency services, Mr Kendall threw a rock through the living-room window, entered the house, and attempted to break into the bedroom, shouting threats before leaving the room and being arrested by police.

Following his guilty plea, the court imposed the following sentence:
• 24-month conditional discharge
– This remains on record and serves as a deterrent against re-offending
– If he commits another offence within this period, he may be re-sentenced for the original offence
• Ordered to pay a total of £111 in costs

Separate from this conviction, there have been further concerns raised by individuals, including reports of past incidents in relationships. These reports have not been proven in court, and where appropriate, individuals may seek safeguarding information through Clare’s Law (Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme) if they have concerns about safety.
