(More details below)
A Corby man, Joshua Westwood, has been jailed after carrying out a series of terrifying attacks on his partner and killing the family’s tiny 12-week-old kitten.
According to court reports:
• He repeatedly abused his partner both physically and mentally.
• During one assault, he strangled her for around 30 seconds, squeezing her neck while she struggled to breathe and feared she would lose consciousness.
• He chased her through the house, dragged her down the stairs, and continued attacking her even as she tried to escape.
• A neighbour had to intervene during one attack after hearing the incident over a call.
• Despite being under a non-molestation order issued earlier that year, he continued to contact and see her.
One of the most disturbing parts of the case involved the family’s 12-week-old kitten:
• While left alone in the home, Westwood violently stamped on the kitten, killing it.
• The kitten was found shaking and bleeding from the mouth.
• When confronted, he told the group outside, “Don’t scream, but… the cat…” before they discovered what he had done.
• Westwood has now started a prison sentence for these offences, after a judge heard evidence of his violent behaviour, strangulation, and cruelty towards a defenceless animal.
• The courts described his conduct as causing severe trauma.
Joshua Westwood is a dangerous and violent individual.
Women should be extremely cautious, and anyone with concerns should use Clare’s Law to request information about his history of domestic abuse.
